Pairing with the engine is a ten-speed automatic transmission, which provides you with a swift and smooth ride. All of the engine options for the F-150 are torque monsters starting with the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 that comes with 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Also available is a 5.0-liter V8 that provides 395 horsepower and a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 available in two flavors. It can pump out either 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque or a blazing 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Be sure not to sleep on the F-150’s diesel engine, a turbocharged diesel V6 that gives you 440 lb-ft of torque. All of the optional engines pair with the ten-speed automatic transmission.
There are a few engine options for the Silverado, but they are tied to what trim level you select, so your options are limited. The base Work Truck is powered by a 4.3-liter V6 engine with 285 horsepower, which is less than the base engine for the F-150. The engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. The LT trim has a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that gets you 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque, while the LT Trail Boss has a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower, which pairs with a ten-speed automatic. There are two more engine options available for the Silverado, including a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and a diesel-powered 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel with 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, both of which pair with the ten-speed automatic. While these engines provide you with impressive power, nothing the Silverado offers comes close to the 510 lb-ft of torque supplied by the F-150.
Six trim levels are available for the Ford F-150, each with an impressive array of features. The base XL comes nicely equipped thanks to trailer sway control, pre-wired trailer connections, vinyl flooring, and a four-speaker stereo. In addition, there is an optional 101A package that adds Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The higher the trim level, the more luxury features you get, as the XLT comes with alloy wheels, chrome trim, front-seat lumbar adjustments, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, the Lariat has keyless entry and ignition, power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather upholstery. The highest trim level for the F-150 is the Raptor, which gets you a ton of fun off-road features such as a reinforced frame and a unique four-wheel-drive system. You also get a modified long-travel suspension, Fox shocks, flared fenders, skid plates, upgraded off-road tires, and leather and cloth upholstery.
There are a few trim levels available for the Chevy Silverado, and there are some exciting features here. Starting things is the Work Truck, which has LED headlights, a tailgate damper, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The RST adds to this with in-bed lighting and remote start. The most significant leap in available features comes with the LTZ, which has a rearview camera, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a trailer brake controller, dual-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. The Silverado’s highest trim level is the High Country, which comes with front and rear parking sensors, a power-up-and-down tailgate, a spray-on bedliner, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system. You also get ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and wireless phone charging. There are off-road tires available, but if you’re looking for a pickup with off-road features, you’re better off with the Ford F-150.
