Ford has officially revealed the name of its new midsize electric truck: the Ford Fathom. The Fathom is the first vehicle built on Ford’s new Universal EV Platform and was designed around the needs of a new generation of truck owners. The name reflects the idea of understanding a customer’s lifestyle and creating a vehicle that offers more than meets the eye.
The Ford Fathom is designed to deliver versatility for both daily driving and weekend adventures. Ford says it is projected to offer more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4 and will seat five adults. The truck will also feature a large high-resolution touchscreen, flexible cargo storage, bidirectional power capability, and a digital key.
The new Ford Fathom is expected to enter the affordable EV market with an expected starting MSRP of under 30K for the standard-range battery. Ford says pre-orders are scheduled to begin in early 2027. Every Fathom will also have the hardware necessary for Ford’s next generation of BlueCruise technology, with integration with Apple Maps designed to provide a more seamless hands-free highway driving experience.
