How Many Superchargers Are Available?

With over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers now available, Ford is revolutionizing access to reliable DC fast charging through its BlueOval Charge Network. To show appreciation to its electric vehicle customers, Ford offers the Fast Charging Adapter at no cost to new and existing customers enrolled in the BlueOvalā„¢ Charge Network until June 30, 2024, a first in the industry. This adapter is essential for charging at upgraded Tesla Superchargers. If ordered by the deadline, retail customers are eligible for a complimentary adapter, while future customers can purchase it from Ford for $230, including estimated tax and shipping. Ford Pro commercial customers will soon receive information on ordering the adapter. The BlueOval Charge Network streamlines payment through the FordPass or Charge Assist App, eliminating the need for onsite credit card use. With Plug & Charge activated, Tesla Superchargers will seamlessly support Ford EVs, initiating charging automatically upon connection and being managed through FordPass. Looking ahead, Ford plans to integrate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector into its next-generation electric vehicles, negating the need for adapters to access Tesla Superchargers.

How Can I Order One?

The process is simple for F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E retail customers looking to reserve a Fast Charging Adapter. Just head over to ford.com/FastChargingAdapter to get started. Once on the site, log in to your Ford Pass account, where you’ll find the Fast Charging Adapter Reservation as the first tile on the Connected Service Home Page. Click the ‘Reserve your adapter at no cost’ button to begin ordering. Your shipping details will be pre-filled based on your Ford Pass account, so ensure everything is accurate, make any necessary updates, and hit ‘Reserve.’ That’s all it takes! You’ll then receive a confirmation screen containing information about an upcoming automated over-the-air software update and a FAQ Hub link. Plus, keep an eye out for a confirmation email containing a personalized link to track the status of your reservation. Easy as pie

The BlueOval Charge Network

The BlueOvalā„¢ Charge Network, proudly North America’s most prominent public charging network offered by an automaker, is a beacon of convenience for Ford EV drivers. It’s not just a network; it’s a cohesive “network of networks” that simplifies charging experiences by providing access to various charging providers without the hassle of multiple apps or memberships. And now, with the inclusion of Tesla Superchargers, the network boasts an impressive tally of over 126,000 chargers, including 28,000 fast chargers, with new ones joining every week. What’s more, this network streamlines payment processes with one seamless stored payment account accessible through the FordPass App or Charge Assist (soon to be “Public Charge” App) right on the vehicle touchscreen, eliminating the need for fumbling with credit cards onsite. Once drivers set up their account, they can effortlessly select, activate, and pay for charging using the FordPass App’s handy “View Chargers” feature. When planning trips, routing, and handling charging payments, Ford customers can rely on the user-friendly FordPass Power My Trip, available on the FordPass App and via Charge Assist on the in-vehicle touchscreen. With the BlueOvalā„¢ Charge Network, charging your Ford EV is convenient and a breeze.

Do You Have Any Charging Tips?

To enhance your charging experience, you can employ several tips and tricks. Firstly, consider preconditioning your vehicle before charging, especially in extreme temperatures, to optimize battery range. Utilize the Set Departure Times feature in the FordPassā„¢App or on the in-vehicle screen to adjust your vehicle’s interior temperature automatically, conserving battery energy for your journey while ensuring a comfortable climate. During charging, minimize the use of cabin heating and rely on heated seats and steering wheel (if available) to reduce HVAC energy consumption. In wintry conditions, clear all ice and snow from your vehicle before hitting the road, maintain moderate driving speeds and ensure proper tire inflation for improved efficiency. Additionally, when searching for chargers through the FordPass App, customize your filters to match your specific charging needs, whether a Level 2 AC charger or a Level 3 DC fast charger, ensuring a seamless and efficient charging experience tailored to your requirements.
