How To Clean Car Floor Mats

Whether your children enter your new Ford or used model with dirty cleats after sports practice in Glenwood Springs, or your dog traipses in snow and debris, your car floor mats are likely to take the hardest hit. These mats protect your interior from spills and mud, but keeping them clean is important, too. Here, Columbine Ford runs through the steps of how to clean car floor mats so that you can do so regularly and keep your cabin looking fresh.

Gather Your Supplies

Before embarking on cleaning your floor mats at your Grand Junction-area home, make sure to gather the appropriate supplies for the task. Whether you have rubber floor mats or carpet floor mats, you will need the following:

  • Vacuum
  • Rubber or carpet floor mat cleanser
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Hose or bucket of water

When cleaning rubber mats, have a microfiber towel on hand, or clear out a space to hang them to dry. For carpet floor mats, a wet vac does wonders if you have one available. Otherwise, you can hang them to dry, too.
