What Is MSRP?
What is MSRP
There is a ton of terminology in the auto industry that can be confusing for the everyday person who walks on to the lot. We are starting a “What is” blog series to make these terms clearer to you, our customer.
What is MSRP? And why is it important?
MSRP stands for Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price also known as retail price, or the dollar amount that a retailer should be asking for the car according to the manufacturer. This price is set by the manufacturer and just what it implies, a suggested price. MSRP does not include destination charges, dealer and handling fees, taxes or title. MSRP includes pricing for added options, unlike base price which is the retail price but does not include options or accessories.
Since MSRP is the suggested price, Ford dealers have the freedom to price however they please. Here at Columbine Ford we price using transparent market pricing. Which means in many cases you pay below MSRP.
