2021 Ford V-6 and V-8 Engine Options Compared

For 2021, Ford has a veritable smorgasbord of engines available across their lineup. Considering a new Ford for 2021? Well, you have six items on the menu and the best one for you depends on your specific needs. Whether it’s towing capability, raw power, or even maximum fuel efficiency, Ford’s got an option for you. Let’s take a look at your choices for 2021.

What does Ford offer for V-6 engines for 2021?

3.3-Liter V-6 – Offering 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, Ford’s entry level V-6 is a naturally aspirated gasoline engine. For high efficiency, it offers twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) and Ford’s port-fuel and direct-injection (PFDI) system. It also has auto stop-start tech to save gas when the vehicle is stationary.

2.7-Liter EcoBoost V-6 – Need a few more ponies? Offering 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, the 2.7-Liter EcoBoost V-6 delivers more power via two intercooled turbochargers, as well as Ti-VCT and PFDI technology. Ford says that some of the components in this turbocharged V-6 utilize the same high-strength iron used in Ford’s Power Stroke diesels.

3.5-Liter EcoBoost V-6 – Still need more? At 400 hp and 500 lb-ft, this engine also uses EcoBoost turbocharger technology but bumps up the cubic inches for higher power. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo gasoline V-6 produces 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Ti-VCT, PFDI, and auto stop-start are also included.

High-Output 3.5-Liter EcoBoost V-6 – Ford’s most powerful V-6 for 2021 is the High-Output 3.5-Liter EcoBoost V-6. It kicks out 450 hp with 510 lb-ft of torque via twin-turbos, Ti-VCT, PFDI technology. Ford notes that his engine is tuned more for sport than maximum towing and hauling capability.

What does Ford offer for diesel engines?

3.0-Liter Power Stroke Turbodiesel V-6  – It wouldn’t be right to deny Ford buyers a diesel, and Ford came through with a great option. With 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, Ford’s 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V-6 is built with reliable Power Stroke technology. This engine is an excellent option for those that need the torque of a diesel engine yet still want good fuel economy.

Does Ford offer any V-8 engines for 2021?

It sure does. Ford wouldn’t let us down by not offering a good ol’ naturally aspirated V-8. Accordingly, buyers of some models can opt for a 5.0-Liter Ti-VCT V-8. With 400 hp and 410 lb-ft, the 5.0-liter V-8 also utilizes Ti-VCT and PFDI technology.  For fleet buyers, Ford can supply this engine to run on propane or compressed natural gas.
